PLEASANT HILL BAPTIST CHURCH

16

Galatians 5:16-17

- “This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall

not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the

Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the

one to the other; so that ye cannot do the things that ye would”.

In this Christian journey we must learn to live according to

the Spirit of God and not according to the desires of our flesh.

We are “flesh” by the very fact that we are human. But, we are

also “Spirit” by the fact that we have accepted God’s gift of

salvation. Your flesh will constantly fight against your spirit;

the key is to be led by your spirit and not by your flesh.

The only way we will live a Spirit filled and Spirit led life is

if we spend more time “feeding” and nurturing our Spirit

than we do our flesh. In other words less television and

more devotion time, less “social gatherings” and more Bible

study, less talking on the phone and more talking to God.

If you Spirit is to remain alive and well, it must be fed.

Colossians 3:1-2

- “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things

which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set

your affection on things above, not things not things on earth.”

Seeking things which are above does not just mean thinking about

heaven and eternal life. Rather the above Scripture instructs us

to seek those things which are of God and are pleasing to God.

As Christians we must not get “caught up” in the things of this

w9rld, thus losing sight of who we belong to. God wants you to

experience all he has to offer, but we must learn to seek God

first and trust Him to bless us as He sees fit (Matthew 6:33).

Living Victoriously With Christ:

Now that you are saved, and are learning to walk and live by

the Spirit of God within you and not by your flesh, the

final step in

“Surviving Your Decision”

is to make sure that Christ

is not only in your life but He is Lord of your life. Once you

make Christ Lord of your life, Victorious Living is guaranteed.
